So great to see you "over here" MaryKay!!!

What exactly is azomite?? How do you take it?

you are right about the smoothies...........i don't want to be drinking salt and cleansing, it doesn't sound right for me. I have fallen off the wagon BIG TIME here, at least it's all vegan (big deal it might as well be real milk chocolate) but we won't even mention what i've been eating. ( It's been a struggle for at least 3 or 4 weeks now, on and off, not every day, but wow. I've only gained 5 pounds, and this in itself is a revelation to me, because previously, on SAD, if i fell off that wagon i would gain MUCH more than this, and more quickly. I'm guessing it was the fat and milk in my favorite thing on earth, Lindt chocolate, as well as all the other unmentionables. This time, i'm eating still bad things but they seem to be somewhat healthier than before so i seem to not be gaining back as quickly, ok now i'm rambling on and on. Let me go look up this azomite stufff.

oh, forgot to ask, i really want to do a smoothie "feast" or fast, whichever it is....... do they all have to be green? i know this is a dumb question. Some of my smoothies are citrusy - clementines, bananas, no green. What about salads, do you eat them during the smoothie feast? i need a smoothie fast coach!!!!

Hey there Gaby,

EVERYTHING you need to know about a green smoothie fast/feast is in that Yahoo Group I gave you a long time ago. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group...forthirtydays/

This was a temporary group where I lead a handful of people on a green smoothie cleanse. They were my well-researched opinions, but basically, we "lead" into it, eating close to 100% raw for two weeks while cleansing with bentonite and psyllium, theneased into all- raw smoothies. After the second week, it is MY OPINION to add a small amt of fats - for those essential fatty acids ---I would vary the fats...Like a spoon of cod liver oil one day (sorry, I'm not a vegan), flax oil another day, maybe one day, I'd have a little protein via spirulina and nutritional yeast "soup".....Nevertheless you're still operating at a "deficit" so you're cleansing.

You want to go into autolysis, by eliminating protein and fat, so your cells get starved, and go to weak/diseased cells for their protein and fat. I am NOT a vegan, but even I believe that while cleansing, you should avoid protein and fat. No nuts, no avocados.....

I should do this with you, after Christmas!

But don't take my word for it, please, do a little research on your own.

Wanna do one beg Dec 26th? or Jan 2nd?
*************

Azomite, is a dust-like powdery dirt ---mined from the earth - so called because it has minerals from "A to Z."

I gave it to my chickens and noticed their eggs and shells are nicer. However I wonder whether humans absorb as much as chickens. Then after I started taking it, I noticed that Weston Price recommends it to the tune of 1 to 2 tsp a day. They're big on mineralizing your body..... I make sure I drink 2 qts a day of water, and I generally mix it with the water. It's chalky, and it settles, so you have to shake it.

Hmmm, I clicked on my link and could navigate around there just fine. It's a Yahoo Group, not a website. You have to become a member of the Yahoo Group and once you do, you can click on "Messages" and see them all. There are 241 (I think) messages. Go to the beginning - #1, and you will see instructions/my thoughts etc.

I believe you should cleanse your colon a bit before embarking on a fast. My thoughts. Therefore, I started everyone out on bentonite/psyllium, while going pretty close to 100% raw for the first two weeks.

I've also done fasts where I jumped right in, rather than leading into it, and got major headaches. I think it's better to lead in - gradually upping your smoothies, while gradually eliminating protein and fats. Some may like to jump right in...Again, these are my opinions.

Ladies, try again, and if you have trouble just holler. Again, you must join the group, then go to messages to access them all. Start at message #1.

Sorry there's some spam in the messages. One time I almost deleted the whole site trying to delete some messages so I don't trust myself to delete them! There are maybe 10 - 15 spams - not too bad.

HTH,

Mary Kay

LOL, Gaby, even if you start this minute, you still won't be "clean" by Jan 1st!

Hugs,

I'm going to jump right in, since i've been pretty good for 4 or 5 months, i should be ok. I really, really will begin tomorrow.

Hey Ladies, where is everybody? I've been up in the redwoods in Eurika Ca. visiting my best friend for about 5 days. My mother is here from Washington for the Hollidays and we have decided to find her a place close to me. And my man and I are looking for a place in the Santa Cruz mountains. I need my trees and am tired of living in the city. I have been here in San Jose, Ca for 34 yrs. I hate it here. Its getting scary where I live.

I'm going to join the 100 day challenge over at Rawfu with Bunny Berry and clan. Its a fun site. It starts the 1st of Jan.

My bear is in Washington visiting his daughter. I will miss him for Christmas. He will be back by our birthday on Dec 30th. He is only 15 minutes older than me. We're going to each get a tattoo for our gift. Not sure what yet. I started getting them when I turned 50. I'll be 56 and I love them! Everyone says I don't seem the type. There is no "type anymore". And I can hide them if I need too. Also, I accepted Woodys marriage proposal. We have been together almost 5 yrs now and use to be together 28 yrs ago. I left him because of his drinking, but he is clean and sober now!

If I don't here from anyone, have a wonderful and peaceful Christmas. Love and Hugs, Mamabird

Just a quick note here, since i'm at work............i will write more later, but now i'm interested in fasting - i mean, for a day at a time - maybe after than some juices, MaryKay, i know you remember me bringing this up before.....

Hmmm, i ordered a bunch of books on Amazon just now about fasting and/or juice fasting. Am i biting off more than i can chew? (pun not intended) I don't think i could fast for more than one day. But i've read that one whole day is beneficial too. I wonder if i can do this.

Those are my latest thoughts for today........

Gaby,

The first day is the hardest, because your digestion is still working so you may get hungry. It's honestly easier later.

To get the full cleansing benefits, you must fast for a minimum of five days. After four or five days, that's when autolysis begins.

I feel one week is the minimim.

If you felt good today, keep it going. the psyllium thing is the easiest, but not the best IMO.

Hey there MaryKay,

well, i don't think i can last 5 days at this. The feeling of weakness, which i know is normal, i can't do if i'm going to be working. If i could stay home, i could do it, but not at work.

I should be getting those books i ordered about fasting, juicing, etc. so i'll stop asking questions, hopefully, by then! So what you're saying is, when you do a juice fast for more than a week, let's say, you need "help" with fiber or something (we are not going to be doing the enemas EVER) or else your digestive system doesn't work properly? I don't mind the psyllium, i have lots of it at home. But since i'm drinking a green smoothie today and plan on a salad later, i don't think i'll be needing that.

Are you doing the smoothies? Know that it does get easier. Drink liquids and smoothies to feel full, you can do it. Use young thai coconut water, too, for variation. You can totally do anything you put your mind to, and you will feel satisfied. Your body is just adjusting. You are right that you don't have to do the psyllium or the colonics. You can simply brew a cup of smooth move chocolate tea and add some stevia to it for a nice "treat" at night that will coerce your body to eliminate if you feel you need help or feel better making sure you eliminate daily. I don't always, other days I'll have 2 or 3 movements. Sure I'd get a colonic here and there if I had the money and the time, and I'd do the tea if I was truly concerned about it - but I'm not. I simply don't go to the bathroom every day when fasting, but I do eliminate as my body sees fit. I think the cayenne in the master cleanse lemonade (another option for you to add to your juice or smoothie regimen) helps aid it along.

At any rate, it is your body, and you can either slow down or increase the detox at your own rate that you feel comfortable with. I've done all different sorts of cleanses and fasts, from 90 day juice fasts to 30 day water fasts (which I do NOT recommend anymore!) to smoothie fasts to master cleansing to herbal detoxes to you name it. You can customize it to suit you, don't let any book or guru tell you differently. As Dr. Ann Wigmore most famously said, "BE YOUR OWN DOCTOR". You are welcome to email me with any questions as well if you'd like. I've studied fasting the last six years, helped run a fasting/detox center, etc. Most importanly, I've done them all and am doing one right now, while working out and working two jobs. During my 90 day juice fast I hiked outside in the 100+ degree Oregon desert sun (um, until I saw a snake and cougar season hit, LOL!) Everything you'd think is true about fasting (you're weaker, you're slower, etc) is generally the opposite, in reality - although you may have your moments and those are okay, too.

May I ask which books you ordered?

Steve Meyorwitz (sp? I know I botched it, sorry!), aka "the Sproutman", has a fabulous and simple but informative one. I forget the name, though!

Fasting Can Save Your Life by the very famous Herbert Shelton, founder of the modern day "Natural Hygiene" movement, is the one that first inspired me....

Paul Bragg's "The Miracle Of Fasting" is excellent, too.

And Dr. Joe Fuhrman's "Fasting and Eating For Health" is phenomenal as well.

And there are others. Arnold Ehret was another great teacher. And Rip Esselstyn (again with the sp?)

The more information you have, the less you have to be frightened of, because knowledge is power and you will UNDERSTAND what your body is going through instead of be fearful of it.

I mean, it's amazing how many people will eat fried fast foods with ice cream shakes, or Thanksgiving dinners, and expect to feel crappy afterwards, do, and don't sweat it. They even laugh about it. But as soon as they experience one detox symptom, people panic and are afraid it's bad and that they are harming themselves, even though they know in their minds they are doing something great for their body, and how on earth could organic fruits and veggies truly be dangerous to the body? It's truly mainly because it's unknown, foreign territory, plus it goes against everything we've been taught, which is huge, and a big mental leap to take on. At the same time, some odd reactions may occur.....but it is not that common. The more educated you are, the less anything will scare you. It is simply because it's "the unknown". I found that exciting, though!

I dove in, full throttle, when I learned about ALL of this, I wanted to feel good sooooo bad. I did a 30 day water fast while working 2 jobs, and actually went out and got a 3rd one during it (that I didn't keep long, lol, no time) because I felt so dang GOOD. I no longer recommend water fasting AT ALL for longer than a day or so, so I don't like to bring it up much, but it's only to illustrate the point that I had read so much about it that nothing frightened me, and although I had eaten a horrible SAD diet up until the day of the fast, I really didn't experience anything except weakness, which is to be expected on a water fast. But as I said before, if symptoms become uncomfortable on a juice fast, you don't have to ditch the whole thing, you can simply slow it down - or at times, speed it up - according to what makes you feel more comfortable. Seriously don't let anyone tell you differently.

Okay, I'm off to do my abs video before I head into work. HAPPY FASTING to both of us, and to allllll of us on this path!

P.S. Although I myself am not personally religious, I have always found this site to be pretty informative. There used to be tons and tons of articles and pages on the topic on this site, maybe poke around a bit for some inspiration and information! www.freedomyou.com.
